Why Laptop Repair?
In our roughly 15 years computer repair experience one thing has never changed, laptops break, not only do they break but there are very few people who know how to fix them. The reality is, most repairs on laptops are basically pretty easy, what you can actually fix anyway. Everything from replacing wireless cards to replacing LCD displays can be done typically under an hour and there are several reasons why it is very profitable to specialize in laptop repair.
Higher Ticket Item
Often times people spend more on their laptop than they do on their desktop computers these days. A decent home computer can barely fetch $500 in most stores while laptops often times are still closer to $1000. The fact that people spend more money on their laptops is a big reason they are willing to spend more to repair them.
Scarcity
The difficulty that is involved in finding someone who can actually replace a laptops LCD screen makes your time more valuable. People will search high and low for someone they can trust, someone who comes highly recommended, someone who is certified. That will be you.
Their General Use
Most times at least in our 15 years experience laptops are more precious than your typical home computer. More people use them for school or business which means odds are they will have more important files on them. A lot of computer repair shops turn away laptops because they lack the tools or know how to repair them but as more and more people move away from the standard home computer and opt for more freedom knowing how to repair them will keep you highly in demand.
They Break Often
Given the nature of a "laptop" its portability leads to eventually spills, drops, and other nasty things. Replacing a laptop keyboard may take you just an hour but it will save the laptop owner hundreds of dollars. Most people barely keep their laptops in a protective bag let alone think twice before tossing it on the floor of their car for the long business trip. A laptop still has a lot of moving parts, and needs just as much if not more TLC from their owners.
Parts Are Hard To Find
If someone's laptop cd-rom breaks, or their keyboard stops working they cannot just shoot over to an office supply store and buy a replacement, you need to know where to order these parts, something we teach you in our laptop repair lessons. The scarcity of the parts, and the fact that you often have to order the exact replacement part will often lead to your phone ringing with a repair job.
